What does everyone think about the look of this webpage? The prices are really good. But, I am not sure if it is too good to be true, or not. I want to subscribe to a magazine and they have great prices. The site sort of looks sketchy, but that might just mean bad design and not thievery. What do you all think?

I need new icons! Anyone have any ideas on what I should stick in there? I don't need the fancy animated stuff that has words and pictures and sound. (Unless [livejournal.com profile] hairy_canary is going to make them for me. And, then I need them most desperately.) I just need more pictures. What should I put in?

I went to Las Vegas this weekend. It was fun. I ended up losing very little money. And, that was all lost in buying lunch or dinner or cheap hookers. So, winning weekend.

I think that if that's Jennifer Connelly on the cover of Harper's Bazaar, she looks very pretty.

Where'd you stay in Las Vegas? I leave for Nashville tomorrow morning. You can go to Las Vegas, you can go to Nashville.

We stayed at Paris. It was really neat! No bidets, but neat, nonetheless.

I was just in Nashville! You want me to go back when I already stopped there on my way to move to CA? Why weren't you there, then?!

Cheap hookers for Easter! How festive!

I'd recommend this site: http://www.ussmag.com/index.asp for magazines instead. Great prices, and I've done business with them in the past and been happy. I even had to call customer service once -- I got a real person and a real resolution to my problem in minutes. When the hell does that happen anymore?

Hah! That's a great company if they helped you out like that.

Unfortunately, the prices they have for the New Yorker are the same as I get directly from the New Yorker, while that other website has it for only 18 dollars.

Oh. Yeah. The New Yorker can be a tougher one. Are you near any college campuses? USS often puts ads in college bookstores (that's where I first heard of them) and those ads have the best prices. I got the New Yorker from a campus ad for I think $25 per year. Not as great as $18, though.

That site is interesting - some of the deals look really good, others not so much. (For example, the Weight Watchers magazine price is 13.95 which isn't hard to get.)

The link dampscribbler gave you looks pretty decent - they have The Economist for $77 which is damn good.

Yeah. I wanted to subscribe to the New Yorker, it's only 18 dollars! I still haven't decided.

Thanks for the book by the way!

Probably reasonably legit. For the most part getting real cheap subscriptions to major magazines is not hard. They make very little money off of subscriptoins and most of it off of advertising.

The way they set advertising rates is based on the number of issues they sell. So they tend to discount subscription rates (because it is a stable number versus newsstand sales which can fluctuate a lot) to drive up advertising rates.

On the other hand you have to be concerned with your identification privacy if you go through a shadier dealer.

Yeah. I wouldn't have thought twice. It's just that they are 30 dollars cheaper for The New Yorker than any of the other cheap magazine websites. So, that made me think twice.

I guess I worried about it being a scam, or about them selling my address to even more junk mail dealers.

I've got a bit happening at the moment, so I fear the inspiration fairy isn't going to visit anytime soon for something completely original. But if you have any ideas of what you would like, I'm sure I will appreciate the diversion of making them.
