I took a hike a couple of weeks ago and I just got the pictures from it up on Flickr, today.

I went up to Tunnel Road. Usually, I take the straight route that goes up to Inspiration Point, but this time I noticed the sign for the Tunnel Trail, so I figured I would try it out, and see what it looked like. I had never tried it before, and I had done the other route about a million times. For the first half of the hike I forgot about taking pictures, I was just intent on getting as far as I could. Then I remembered I had my camera, so on my way down I took some pictures.

town and ocean

It's a good time of year to look out at the ocean because the view of the Islands is pretty strong. Come Summer time, they are hidden as if they were never there. And maybe they weren't. In these transitory times who knows what is really real? Probably, the goats.

town and ocean

I like views that involve the v shape of two hills coming together. It creates a sense of mystery, they give you a little hint of what you can see, but hide a lot, so it might be cooler. In fact, there might be larger than life statues of Piglet just beyond the hill, but you can't now because it is hidden.

sun over ocean

I took a picture from this view like a dozen times. In real life the sun was creating this really cool effect on the ocean and it looked neat. But, I couldn't capture that at all with the camera. But, in the LCD display on the camera the sun was creating this really neat line that was also cool looking. But, I couldn't replicate that in an image either. The resulting image is still pretty neat, but not exactly what I was trying to capture.

sun and wires

Another picture of the sun and ocean. This one includes a piece of civilization.

trail up

Parts of the trail had some shifty dirty. I almost fell a couple of times. And, did fall another time with my camera flying. Thankfully, my camera survived the fall and I didn't plummet down the hill to a greenish death among tiny birds and large mouses.

sky

And that's me near the bottom taking a picture up to where I had been. Those electric poles are probably nearly the midway point, or a little less. Probably less, I remember on the way down being happy to see them because that meant I was almost home. I was probably just getting some exercise endorphins, so my happiness had nothing to do with geography. So never mind.

It was a fun hike. It was a seat of my pants thing, I just decided to do it after book club left out. But, it was fun. I figured out how long it was, but I forget now. I kind of just turned around, there wasn't a clear ending like there is with a lot of hikes I take. Or, maybe there is, but I had already been hiking for a while. I think back and forth it took about 3 hours, maybe a little bit more.
