pricciar: (pointmade! (Mutts))
Dreaming last night I was at a play with [livejournal.com profile] huskerdude1 and some anonymous woman who was very nice and we knew her very well, but who doesn't seem to have an analog in real life. We went to the play with two guys who were big muckety mucks in publishing and good friends of John's. The play was supposed to be written by Neil Simon and be fast paced, and really funny. It turned out to be much different. The muckety mucks were reading aloud to a 50s era film that showed french fries being made. It was quite interesting, and it turns out that McDonald's food really isn't very good for you. The voices were boring, though. In the end John patted me on the shoulder and I woke up having to pee. I am not sure how they are related. Anyway, my MP3 player, which I sometimes listen to as I go to sleep hooked up to my boombox, was playing a story from some McSweeny Collection that I had downloaded. It was all about the birth of French Fries. The real world entered my dreams!

I watched Dead Man last night. I thought it was excellent. Jim Jarmusch has never let me down. It found ways to be serious and profound while at the same time being hilarious and ridiculous.

My subscription to the New Yorker started a couple of weeks ago and it turns out my fears of being unable to finish the magazine each week were unfounded. It is filled with such fantastic articles I pretty much devour it the first couple of days it is here. Surprisingly, I have found the non fiction to be a lot more entertaining and engaging than the fiction pieces. Plus, the cartoons are usually dumb. Yet, I have not found any Ziggies yet.

Remember when I used to talk about the holes? They often come back, it seems. Always deeper. Never easier to get out of. Actually, they seem even deeper, with walls that are impossible to grab onto. I am not sure what to make of that, experience is supposed to help, not hinder. But, experience only seems to hammer in negative lessons that I try over and over again to shake off.

X Men 3 was not as bad as I expected. There was some terrible sections, but on the whole it was fun. I am looking forward to Cars this weekend. I will probably see it right away. I need to sign up for a composition class at City College. I would like to brush up and tighten my grammar and my writing. And a class with structure like a comp class seems like a great way to do it.

I have had to drastically change my diet lately. I am eating a lot of small meals, and no big meals at all. No sweets. And no cheese. I really miss the cheese. Pizza is such a great thing.

I bought new shoes. From the store recommended by [livejournal.com profile] scout1222. They were super expensive, but I felt good with the purchase. And, they are much nicer than my crappy old shoes. I am feeling a tinge in my knee, but I don't think it's going to be a big deal. In case, I am taking it real easy and if I feel even a slight pain while running I will stop and walk home. It's odd, though, because it is the opposite knee from what I hurt last time. Annoying, too. But, I feel pretty good about how i am going with the Couch to 5K program, it is fun.

Buffy has continued to be excellent. I am at the mid point of season 3 and lots of fun exciting things have happened.
