Mar. 29th, 2006 11:28 amI was thinking of reupping my subscription to live journal, because I really miss doing polls. But, that seems like a stupid reason to spend 20 dollars. Especially, since I post about once every goat's week. Also, they are giving out free icons if you reup. Loyalty pictures, or something. I don' t know why that appeals to me, because, again, I never post. But, it does. There must be something truly and deeply wrong with me. I guess the faster I admit and accept this fact the faster I can hope to live free in the white man's world. Also, I guess if I went paid my email would be listed again. And, then I wouldn't't miss out on meeting the hungover, which probably would have been fun.
I made chicken soup the other day. Well, it wasn't really making it from scratch, but it was a bit more difficult than just opening a can. I had a bunch of chicken that I had cooked the night before and I made it way too spicy. So, I figured the very best way to salvage a pretty bad meal was to cook it in a soup. And, I was right. I chucked a buttload of vegetables in there, along with some salt and threw the chicken in and let it cook for a couple of hours. Then at the end I threw in the noodles. Sadly, that's where my mistake happened. I threw in so many noodles that it stopped being soup and it became some sort of pasta dish. It was hard to judge, it certainly didn't seem like enough. (But, it was.)
I watched the first disc of Sports Night last night. While, I enjoyed it, I was slightly underwhelmed. From hearing people talk about this show I was under the impression it was another victim of unfair network boggling, and it should have lived on. I don't know how long it lasted, or if it got better. But, what I saw, while entertaining, wasn't worthy of the cult status I thought this show had. Here is what I am saying - it's not arrested development, it's no Veronica Marrs. It's just a fun sit com with some witty banter, some of it unbelievable, and some of it unneed character descriptors that do nothing to move along the plot. Just telling without showing. But, most of it was pretty good. I don't know if I am going to go further and watch the rest of the discs, though.
Sometimes I figure I should just give up. Totally and completely. But, that feels like so much more work than not giving up that I am left confused.
The next Netflix tv show I will be watching is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I need to see if Joss Whedon's skills extend outside of Firefly, and the work he made a name for himself on seems like a great place to start. I hope that comes in today, because I am really curious to see how good it is.
Also, I am thinking I should give V For Vendetta a chance before it leaves theatres. Mostly, because it might be a fun movie. But, I also want to see how well they did with great source material.
I gave platelets the other day. This takes a lot longer than giving blood, so they set you up in nice chairs and let you choose a movie to watch. I chose Out of Sight. Man. That's a really well made movie. Amazing how good everything. Everyone in the cast absolutely shines. The direction is pitch perfect for the material. The characters are well written, and the story moves along and makes sense. I hadn't seen it for years, it's great to see that it holds up and is as good as I remembered it. Plus. After the movie was over? Cookies! And, I stole some and took them home for later. They also gave me a coupon for a free smoothie from Blenders in the Grass. Giving blood pays!
I wanted to take a couple of hikes this weekend. But, I let my own laziness and rain stop me from doing it. I was able to venture down to Ventura and enjoy a tasty lunch out on JoannaFina's porch.
I wanted to get a new PS2 game from Target. But, nothing seemed interested. I wanted something brainless, but they all seemed too brainless. Or something. I wish I had seen the first Prince of Persia there. I saw it at CostCo, and should have bought it. But, Now, I am too lazy to go back there. Maybe this weekend.
So. Belle and Sebastian came and I missed it. Stereolab was here last night and I missed it. Damn.
